- Foetid Hellebore (Helleborus foetidus)
You receive at least 11 seeds of each.
Germination: Hellebore seeds should be cold stratified. Sometimes they require two separate cold periods. The seeds you receive have been stored outside in the green house and thus already experienced a natural autumn and winter. Hence they can be sown directly. Best is to put 5 seeds of the same variant in a single pot and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Then keep the soil evenly moist. The seeds germinate in spring. Hellebore, as well as other ranuncles have seeds with strong germination inhibition. In order to break their dormancy a hormone called gibellric acid can be employed to break seed dormancy and trigger germination.
