While spending 3 days weeding the pavements in my mom’s abundant wild herb garden in Dresden, where the aromatics simply burst from every vacuole, the heat of August took it’s sacrifice elsewhere. To say I was devastated at the sight of my raised bed back in Düsseldorf is an understatement.
It took 2 hours, cutting everything back to the base and getting accustomed to the sight of this dead bed.
The above pictures show the flower bed in spring – with sweetgras, snow heath, fritillaria and lenten rose in bloom and wet from the rain – and now. The rain had been missing a little too long.
Two nights and a cigarr later I pursued my long forged plan – the production of ashes from herbs harvested long times ago. The dead bed is now my ritual table on which I cremate the bodeis of my allies.
It is tabula rasa.
The blackening thus commences.
