Description
This incense blend completes the circle of Teufelskunst incense blends dedicated to different spiritual feast days throughout the seasons. It is all about the rituals of spring, for example the celebration of the Vernal Equinox, Ostara/Easter, the Roman Veneralia and leading up to Beltaine. It smells sweet and spicy, with a hint of earthen breath, just a like a spring time walk through a sunlit forest. It contains fragrant and traditional spring and light related ingredients, such as clary sage, dammar, green Hojari frankincense, lemon grass, myrtle, sweetgrass and fragrant violets. In addition, yellow flowering primrose and amber resin evoke the light and fire of the sun. The return of vegetation and pollinators along with the increasing daylight, is presented by aromatic bee propolis, which adds a warm and earthy aroma to the blend. Apple peel and bark reference the very essence of Venus. Water mint and willow both connect this blend to the element water, evoking Batrachian currents and point towards the opening rituals of the Western Throne.
Besides, the old Irish Beltaine is derived from common Celtic *belo-te(p)niâ, meaning “bright fire”. Fire is often part of spring and May Day celebrations, e.g. for cleansing (burning) the old and making way for the new or as a primitive reference to the return of the sun. This blend may hence also be used for Beltane celebrations.
